Maria Lewis has recently released her official music video ‘Fire of Love’. This is an original song written by Anne Lewis and composed by Ivan De Battista. Along with this music video, Maria Lewis has launched her new single ‘Fire of Love’ available online or exclusively from D’Amato Record Shop in Valletta, Malta.

Maria Lewis – her journey


Maria started singing at an early age in the Mosta local children’s church choir and was given several solo parts during prestigious events in the parish.


She took part for the first time in a Singers’ Festival organised by GM Productions and won second place.

1988 – 1990

Maria competed in several children’s contests and won 1st place in many of them. Maria and her sister Stephanie formed the duo ‘The Starbrights’ and were successful in many festivals winning ‘Best Singer’ awards in various production organisations.

Together they took part in ‘Passaporto per Sanremo’ in North Italy, ‘Walt Disney Show’ in Rome and ‘Video Fantasy’ in Sicily.

1991 – 1995

As one of the duo ‘Starbrights’, Maria took part in the Malta Song for Europe twice and participated in numerous shows around the Maltese islands.

She entertained a wide variety of audiences, from weddings and parties to high conference events and corporate establishments.

Together with her sister, Maria also presented various television and radio shows. ‘The Starbrights’ released their first CD album ‘Jewel Box’.

1996 – 2002

Maria graduated in Music and Communication Studies (BA) and Post Graduate in Education (PGCE). Maria and her sister ran ‘The Starbrights School of Talent’, continued to take part in various shows around the Maltese islands and released the CD singles ‘Someday Somewhere’ and ‘Ġesu. Maria and Stephanie also sang in various events overseas, namely in Tunes, England and Wales.

2003 – 2007

Together with her sister, she composed several original songs and after a few showcases they were chosen by an established production company in Liverpool Street, ‘Premises Studios’. They launched and released the 13 track CD compilation ‘Friends Forever’ which was on sale in independent and established record shops in London. They performed in several clubs and pubs in and around London.  Maria also participated in music events held in Thailand and Australia and took part in several radio shows.

2008 – 2011

Back in Malta, Maria took part as a solo artist in various shows and interviews on local TV and radio stations including ‘Illejla’, ‘Xarabank’ and ‘Ħaddieħor’. She presented the televised music marathon ‘Oħloq Tbissima’ as well as a weekly programme on Radju Marija.

2012 – 2014

Maria launched and released her debut solo CD single ‘Caccini’s Ave Maria’ which was recorded at Lito’s Place. She performed for a Maltese audience in Australia and was interviewed on an established Australian radio show. Following the CD release, Maria recorded and released her first music video ‘Caccini’s Ave Maria’ which was produced by ERA Productions.


Maria released her second solo CD single and her second music video ‘An Angel’. These were launched during a very special event held at ‘The President’s Kitchen Garden’ in Attard, Malta. The song was recorded at Lito’s place and the video was produced by ERA Productions.


maria-lewis-21Following the success of her previous two CD singles and music videos, Maria released her third CD single and music video called ‘Fire of Love’.

This is an original song composed by Ivan De Battista and written by Anne Lewis. The orchestration and production of this song were in the hands of Sam Hayman whilst the mixing and mastering were done at Lito’s Place. The video was co-ordinated by Aaron Mifsud and once again, it was produced by ERA Productions. The video was filmed in various prestigious sites around Malta.

Maria is currently working on other material, mainly a fusion of Celtic classic pieces. She has a very busy schedule singing at Church Weddings, Civil Weddings, Funerals and Special Occasions. She is normally accompanied by Piano, Guitar or Harp.
